The Big Move: Day 10

To Yukon Territory!

We woke up early and ran our mile along the road beside Muncho Lake. I was in awe of the turquoise color of the water caused by the suspended glacial “flour” and kept getting distracted while running. We ran up to the Lodge for breakfast (delicious) then prepped for a long day. We had 454 miles (730 km) to cover so expected to have close to 10 hours on the road. Our destination was Hotsprings Campground & Resort, right next to Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs at Takhini hot springs in Whitehorse, YT. Since we expected to get there late, we planned on soaking in the springs the following morning which was, conveniently, my birthday.

Not a bad place to run.

The drive was beautiful again and time passed well. Before we knew it, we were at Watson Lake. Being Watsons, we had to stop for a photo. We pulled into the campground that evening and started to settle in. The mosquitos found and swarmed us. A few bug sticks later and the Thermocell going and we were in good shape. Back to a Mac n’ Cheese dinner; I stepped it up a notch with the addition of a taco seasoning packet and a can of diced tomatoes. Not bad. Probably would have been better if I hadn’t spilled the noodles into the leaf litter when straining them but quick action to scoop up as many as possible, a quick rinse and minimal debris was included in the dish. But we were tired from the long drive and wanted to eat so, more fiber?

Our campsite at 23:40, still bright out.

The campground was great and I can’t wait to stay there again for a nice soak in the springs and a relaxing camp.
