North Dakota
(say “North Dakota” like “Oklahoma” from the musical for the full effect)
Today we would start venturing into the unknown. Neither of us had ever traveled this far west before. It would be another long driving day from Iron River, WI to Warwick, ND. I had calculated our travel time and miles for each day but did not account for the added stops required by biology (bio-breaks for humans and dogs) nor stops for fuel (both human and vehicle). But, the breaks were nice to break the monotony of the prairie lands through which we were traveling.

We saw our first pronghorn, drove past the geographical center of North America (not the lower 48; but the continent), then learned the difference between an RV campground and an RV park. We stayed at Eastbay Campground and RV Park in Warwick, ND. I hadn’t realized that an RV park was more of a long-term type of place. We were on a grass site (not bad, but difficult to level on), the bathroom was about 0.5 mile walk away with no close outhouse, and it was golfcart central. But, we were right on the lake and it was only for one night.
